Delivery Methods
Collect From Farm
Chickens are available to collect from the farm using the main entrance. Please make an appointment to collect your birds.
Eggs are available for collection from The Shepherd’s Hut at the farms second entrance. If you’ve pre-paid for your eggs, you will be sent a collection code for our vending machine.
Mail UK
We send hatching eggs throughout the UK these are despatched using Royal Mail First Class Delivery. The price will vary depending on the products that are purchased. Postage for each product is based on weight. The minimum postage cost is £5.95.
Outside of Europe
Unfortunately, we can’t currently deliver to countries that are outside of the UK and Europe. Our hatching eggs need to be received within a few days of postage to ensure the viability of the eggs. Posting hatching eggs further afield means that we can not ensure they will be viable to hatch, and therefore would be letting customers down.
Delivery Timescale
We try to only send the freshest of eggs and start to collect once the order is received.
As the number of hens and time of year affects rare breed laying pattern we would normally despatch after about 3 working days dependant on order size. We are dealing with natural processes and not machine production so if the girls are on a go slow we will let you know by email and you can decide if you still wish to progress with the order.
From order to receipt on average will be about 7 to 10 days dependant when order is placed. If you are in a rush please contact us as we may be able to help much quicker.
Packaging
We use lightweight packaging for shipping your hatching eggs. The boxes are padded and shaped egg postal boxes designed to stop your eggs from shifting and safeguard them from bangs and knocks, as well as providing the ideal insulated environment for eggs in transit.
Dependant on order size these boxes are then put in padded envelopes of small cartons.
Refunds
Hatching Eggs: Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that hatching eggs will hatch. We have no control over what happens to them once they leave our farm. We cannot prevent broody hens leaving the nest, the use of badly calibrated incubators, incubator malfunction, power cuts, boxes being dropped, etc. all of which will affect the viability of eggs. However, we constantly monitor fertility and hatch rates in our professionally calibrated incubators to ensure that the fertility and hatch rate of our eggs remains high. We do everything we can to protect fertile eggs by storing at the correct temperature and rotating them frequently. We dispatch them in boxes, with foam inserts designed for this purpose, and use 'fragile' tape. Please note that orders for eggs cannot be cancelled once they have been dispatched and they cannot be returned because they are perishable goods. Therefore we cannot offer a refund.
Livestock: With the bird flu protocol in place we unfortunately, cannot offer a replacement or refund. However, if your bird dies within 48 hours of collection from the farm, we can offer a full refund.
